Quilt Collaberation

So, started a quilt for my guest room. As I was making the top, Jess started making a baby sized quilt with my extra, just because. Mostly because, this rail fence style quilt had been calling to her.
I think it's out of her system now.... ha ha.
I love it but I already have a big quilt in these fabrics that, no, is not yet finished.
The fabrics are mostly Michael Miller with  touches of Denyse Schmit, Riley Blake and Kaufman Kona.
I got distracted from finishing my big quilt, by making the quilt back for this one. Well, I got distracted by that and a few hundred other things. Simple straight line quilting finished it up.
It's always fun to work with Jessica. I am thankful for her energy Every. Single. Day.
We are putting this one up in our shop, hoping someone else will love it too.
Jess is not the only fantastic helper around my house.
P.S. Apologies for the blurry photos. I think I need a new lens. Or new eyes. Or both.

Pillow Talk

A few weeks back we had a sewing with friends day at my house. I was helping one young woman sew some pillow cases. We'd done it once before, but since then I came across the hotdog pillow case method. Where has this been? Why can't I think of these things on my own???
Anyway, I made one so I could show her the results. Of course, you can't just make one pillow case, can you?
I used a couple of Michael Miller fabrics from the Citron Gray line, Gray Lil' Plain Jane and Citron Play Stripe. The accent strip is Kona charcoal.  I will eventually do a quilt that coordinates with these........
Normally I wouldn't choose big flowers for something like this but they make me happy.
Nap time!

Jessica's Dresses and Market

Jessica requested two more Socialite dresses from the pattern by Anna Maria Horner. She sent this fabric and I was able to get them done this weekend. She chose Modern Meadow by Joel Dewberry in herringbone and a Michael Miller fabric called Esther. I have a couple more in the shirred style to finish for her. I need to get to work. Hope you like them Jess!

Here are some highlights from the Handwerk Markt. It was fun. Not too much not too little to walk around and see on such a chilly day. I had to wear a heavy coat... blah.

Where would you wear this hat?

These fire bowls are pretty but seem kinda dangerous to me.

Pillow yumminess.

Concept shirt or Maybe she shouldn't have but she did.......

There's a lot of recycling/upcycling going on. It's something I used to do. There was this one time I turned a pair of mens pants into a dress for a teen who's mom thought we were both crazy when she asked if I could and I said, of course! It was cute, in a funky, I don't want to be like anyone else way.

Anyway, I have had this idea in my head and it took the dead line for the 2010 spring top week sponsered by Made By Rae to get me going. I'd already entered this top, but wanted to try and do another.....

Be kind, I started it last night, it didn't turn out like I wanted, I did everything wrong but, it still kinda turned out right.

This was an old long sleeve boxy sort of shirt.

Uh hum, should have thought about it being a gauzy like fabric..... I think the bias cut ruffles are fun though I am not usually a ruffley person. They also hide the fact that I made the shirt too small by tweaking it too far.... oops. Now I'm glad I did cause I love them.

Right before I grabbed Kelly so she could take photos, it started raining. This is the best we got of the back. The fabric is Ta Dot by Micheal Miller. I love it and wish I had more.

I think I'll try this again only I'll give myself a bit more time!
