Sketchbook Shirt

Sorry I've been gone for awhile. It's been a bit busy. I've done this and that but haven't managed to blog about it. I've also done some stuff. What stuff? Hmmm I'll have to think.
I did manage to make the Little Mister a Sketchbook Shirt from the pattern by Oliver & S. Jess had just barely enough of this fabric to get it done. Matching the plaid wasn't completely possible, but the overall look was exactly what we wanted.
Then we took about a hundred pictures.
You get to see four.

More projects

Welcome do my dark home. Seriously, you can see from the reflection in the mirror that there is sun out there. It just doesn't make it inside. Fortunatley, this shirt is bright and sunny all on it's own. It is the shirt I wanted you to see, not me. After making a child's version from the book "Seams to Me" for the shop, (thank you Mary for believing I was small enough to fit in it), I decided I did need one.
My Sis and I have made several versions of these tops over the years. Simple and comfortable, what's not to like. The moment I decided to make it, I knew which fabric I would use. It's bold and fun and I love it.
This is the second of the purses I've been playing with. My first one sold (hooray) which gave me an excuse to make more. I'm almost done with a third but I keep getting interrupted by work, cleaning and the dog wanting to be walked.

More later.

Why are small things so cute?

I love these patterns. This woman is a genius. Her patterns are really cute and fairly simple. It took me two hours to sew this and I was talking on the phone at the same time. This is the easiest of the three patterns I have tried. I used the chambray we just got in at the shop. It sewed up like a dream. Seriously. Until I wrap it up and save it for an unknown someone, it will be hanging up in the store hoping to inspire.

Let's here it for the boys.....

When this fabric came into the shop, I knew I had to make it into a shirt for a guy. I used to make things like this for my boys all the time. They loved it, just ask them! (Not matching though, that would be weird) I borrowed a pattern from Jennifer for this one. There is a little guy out there that I had in mind while making it.....

I really love this line!! Not every peice is as bold as this. The bird fabric from yesterday's dress is from the same line. I just love these chameleons though, they make me smile!

What do you think?

Don't sew when your tired...... This is from an instructional that Jenny P. shared with me. I tried to mess this up in more ways than I can tell you. Sad part is, it is simple, but not.... or it is just me. Whatever. I still think it's cute. You can be honest though, as long as you use cute somewhere.....

Look at what she made!

My daughter, the clever one! You can see some of her other things here. This is screen printed using freezer paper templates. She had to hand cut each one. Her first were a whole bunch for a friend's baby shower and I really wanted one too! Jessica, I love it! For those of you here, I will wear it to work so you can see it up close.

This is something I made last week. My dear friend Dora gave me the recipe. Did you know you can deep fry Elderberry flowers? They are good! Of course I think they were the right flowers. Don't tell you know who, he ate them and liked them. When I told Dora that I hoped they were the right ones, she was not happy with me. She is still not sure I haven't killed us.......

Something new

I finally finished it! Yet another project that I had started over a month ago. New patterns come in, new fabric comes in and I just can't help myself, I have to get it. When I finally finish, they are old patterns and old fabrics....... ha ha. Anyway, not too behind on this one. The pattern is from here. The fabric is Daydreams by Deb Strain. We still have some in the shop, I didn't buy it all....
