Don't know why I fight it.

I didn't want to go.
I so did not want to get up at 0430 get in the car and drive ride for three hours.
My dear daughter told me to stop being silly and go.
I also realized I was too tired to stay home.
He let me take my pillow and sleep and that made it all better.

It was worth it.

Another full day of complete relaxation in the sun.

Why fight it?

0845 we were there and he was off.

Though it seemed crowded here, this is just everyone getting up the mountain. There is so much to this area though that when he got through this, he said he was alone quite a lot of the time.

As he started up, this was the view, I am down there somewhere.

My view wasn't quite as spectacular but it was a gorgeous day to be walking, even so early.

This town has a bit of everything and a lot of it is yummy, even if it's a bit outrageous. Jessica if I only knew whether it was a girl, I still couldn't have gotten this! Ha Ha

For lunch we met up there, see the buildings up in the middle of the photo? I rode the bergbahn up and waited in the sun.

And that is where we spent the next three hours. Eating, talking, napping and watching a wedding.

Watching the people watching the wedding.

I told him if he hadn't already married me a million years ago that I would make him marry me there.

While it was still light, we started home. This is the part about summer here that I love. When the sun is shining, and the days are long.

The tunnels that help you get down the mountain.

Looking back from where we came. If you look at the moutain just above the curve in the road you can see one of the tunnels.

The road is really windy.

There is this one curve where you can almost die, every time.

I almost lost my camera out the sun roof trying to take this. I'm still not sure how I caught it.

We made it back into town in time to make it to the opening night at the Biergarten.
Flammkuchen, yum.

Quick Goodbye Before I Go

This morning You know who, The Oldest, Brink, and I head out for our annual ski holiday in Austria. We will meet a good friend there. Dear Jess and Uber, we'll miss you very much. We have been very fortunate to have made this trip for more years than you want to hear about. It is one of my most favorite places on this amazing earth. Ask anyone who knows me, I tend to go on about it. I only do so because I really wish you could go with me. Ya'll say a prayer that I don't break myself.
The view from my kitchen. We had a foot of snow last night.

Just to hold you over, these last two photos are sneak peaks of my next projects.

See ya later.

Ten things you should know before skiing at Feldberg

1. The highest elevation is 1448m which is just not that high.
2. On the first really sunny day in weeks, everyone in S. Germany, N. Switzerland and E. France will be at Feldberg.
3. When there is an unusually high snowfall, everyone else may try to crowd in.
4. During said snowfall, the chairs lifts are only a foot off the ground. I'm short, this is too low.
5. The runs are short, the lift lines are long.
6. There are not a lot of lifts.
7. The gulasch at the place over the top of the mountian is good but it's a long walk back up.
8. The "black" runs are frequented by 3 year olds.
9. Do not take my husband or myself to help with directions. Apparently we are directionally impaired at Feldberg.
10. A 7k trip down an unmarked ski route can lead to a 35 euro taxi ride and 20k later you are back at your car.

Lech day 6, or are you tired of this yet?

The view out my window this morning. The three dots on the run are the guys. I'm zoomed in too....
Instead of skiing today, I went up to the highest peak here.

Brinkley really loves the snow. He will dive into it face first.

Lech days four and five

Yesterday I did some skiing. Then I did some sitting and watching for the boys to come around over the mountian a couple of times. It is fun how easy it is to pick them out of a crowd. There are no pictures because visibility was bad. We were skiing blind most of the time. They think it is more fun than I do.... This was taken in the morning. Very strange light. Lech in the evening.

Lech at night courtesy of my DH on his night walk with Brinkley.

Today it was very foggy in the valley. When you got halfway up the mountian all you could see was clouds below with this hazy light. I didn't get pictures until later. The clouds are distant by this time. The light is still funky though.

Always looking for something crafty. The boys call them spoon pockets. They will be getting some as gifts......

Here is a picture of the house we stay in. Right now we are on the second floor on the left. We were downstairs until last night.

BTW, yes, two days ago it was warm enough to sit outside in a tank top. Not today.

Day three

Not much has changed, we are still having fun. The sun was even warmer today. I was never able to fall completely asleep though, because the boys keep me laughing.
I did have a spill yesterday at the end of the day of course. Today was a bit painful but I did it anyway. My skiing has improved greatly!! I'm proud!

We have arrived

We had a nice uneventful drive to one of our favorite spots this afternoon. Our friend K took this for us. We put our skis in to be waxed then stopped at the Tannenhof before going back to the guesthouse for my chili. For those of you who have been here, everything is still beautiful. For those who have never been, you can come here, if you promise to behave. Lech. For me it translates as beautiful. Let's see if I can get up early and ski. Sometimes I forget how.

Scarflette deux

Sorry for the blurry picture. A whole house of cameras and not a single good picture of me.... Be nice about the hair and, well everything. We are getting ready to go on our annual ski holiday. This means I have been very busy today. Busy playing Wii and finishing this project. I cooked chili too... The first Catherine wheel project is still unfinished. It wants to be a scarf too, I just started with such small yarn. Oh well. Speaking of Wii. My son gave me his for Xmas. Then my darling girl teamed up with him and a friend to get me Wii Fit! I love this thing. K was flying in for our ski trip and got the last one at the airport. My 47th birthday will go down as one of the most unexpectedly fantastically gifted b-days I have had. I think I could be better at the Wii if I could just stop laughing.
