Uptown Coats, Again....

Warning: These pictures do not do these coats justice. It's not You Know Who's fault, it's just too dark to go outside. You've also seen these coats here several times before. Look anyway.

My mom and Aunt requested these after seeing the one I sent to my sisterMom, Rhonda, if you  don't like them let me know and I'll keep them. Just sayin.

For my mom. Dark brown corduroy and Imperial Fusions both by Kaufman fabrics. I was searching for just the right lining when Kelly suggested this. It's perfect.

For my Aunt. Black Kaufman corduroy with a lining from "au-then-tic" by Sweetwater for Moda. I covered the buttons in corduroy. I love this even if I do say so myself.

This coat is just too cute.
Yummy vintage buttons for my mom's coat.

Thanks for stopping by. Off to my next project.

Nice Surprise!

Shells on JAX beach

Sew Mama Sew is a wonderful resource for all things sewing and crafty. They have a blog, a store, a forum, a flickr page and a facebook page, among other things. This morning I had an email asking to use my wool Uptown Coat as an example of what you can do with that pattern. They put it on their Flickr page with a link to my blog, hoping to inspire people to purchase the pattern from their store.

Needless to say I am thrilled. It was a nice thing to have happen after a very, very long trip back home. A trip that went way too quickly. Separating me from people that I love so much.

Wool, corduroy, cotton and linen

I've made this coat in all of these fabrics and I'm still not bored with it. Jessica sent this fabric combination for me to make her one too. I was actually able to start and finish it yesterday. She didn't get to send the buttons so I will have to put those on when I get there.

I love the drape of linen. This is a fairly heavy weight and having to hang it to take the photos makes it look slouchier than it is. I think it's so fun that she chose Mendicino Two sisters by Heather Ross for the lining. Hope you like it Jess!

And just for good measure, I made my green scrap bucket. Funny, I had a lot less green than I thought.

For those of you who haven't got the new improved upload (yep, they gave us strike through) I'm sure that you all will have an easier time than I am getting used to it. Old dog, new tricks and all that. The link button is better, it allows you to check it before you post. Once I figure it all out it will be great.

One for the shop

My second go at the Uptown Coat by Favorite Things. I'm hanging in the shop hoping it inspires more people to sew clothing. Thanks Jennifer for taking the photos for me.....

This time I used cordouroy for the outer coat and a cotton for the lining. Both fabrics are available at the store. I made covered buttons this time.

I think I could use a different one for each day of the week.
