Cat Bag

Next up in the bags for traveling kids series.... Kitty Cat pencil case. This was inspired by a pin I'd seen that led back to Tokyoinspired. This is our take on it. I love it a lot.

I made it with some gorgeous felt that I purchased in Germany from the loveliest little shop, which I am now kicking myself that I cannot remember the name.

It's unlined and except for the feet and buttons, the embellishing is by machine. Small pieces of wool for the stripes sewn on before assembling the front and back. Doing the nose and whiskers was fun. Scribbling with the machine might be something I should try more often.

Then Jessica said, "Wouldn't it be cute if it had a fish?"
So I did.
And it is.

If for some reason Miss Boo doesn't like this, I may be stealing it back....

Sad

We had to say goodbye to my sweet Evie this morning. After a five month illness she was tired.
We'll miss her a lot.

School Days Jacket ~ Featuring Emily

I love this girl! When Jennifer stopped by the shop today, she took these for me.  Now I know I love this coat. It's hard to see sometimes if you don't have a little one around to torture dress up. Thanks Jennifer! Thanks Miss Em!

Yes, another wonderful pattern from Oliver and S. Hanging up in our shop hoping to inspire people to sew something.
I used a brown twill for the outer fabric and Fresh Paint by Marcus Fabrics for the lining. Since I make these things to try and show how cute they are, and then tuck them away for non existent future grandkids, I have no one to model them. Maybe Jennifer will take pity on me and let me borrow one of her gorgeous girls?

More old vintage buttons.

When I got home late last night, this is what I saw. See, we bought a new/old desk for you know who. He's never really liked the table I made him set his office stuff on, expressed a desire for a new desk and just a few days later we found this.

So, apparently, this is what you do when you get a peice of furniture and find out that is doesn't fit through any other door in your house except the front door. You put it in the middle of the living room and make a cubby for your sick cat (no, she still won't eat unless I make her) on the trolley. It's pretty hilarious what this cat will let him do. She sat there while he rolled her around.

Welcome to my world.

Blocks of Pure Green

I love traditional blocks. A few nights ago I decided to make a few eight inch blocks. Practice never hurts. Not wanting to do the math, I looked up a few free patterns. Other people can't to math very well either, so these are not all the same size. I'm not sure I'll ever do anything with them, but that wasn't the point. It was just the process.

My sweet cat is still not feeling well. I'm just not sure if she is going to make it out of this. You Know Who tries to tempt her with toys. I think she appreciates the effort but she just has no energy. I looked over last night and this is what I saw.

Just makes me so sad.

Guest Room Slippers and a Gigantic Cat

You may not know this but I have big feet. I believe knowing that fact will let you in on just how big this cat is. Evie is big, not fat. She is curious too. And a bit of a freak.
~
This is my third project from Weekend Sewing. Everything was destined to go wrong with this project but, I think they turned out nicely anyway. Yes, there is a seam on the toe. No, there is not supposed to be a seam there. But what if you don't have enough fabric for the fold... I also forgot the non slip bottom fabric package on the counter at work. I was tired. They are still cute, if a bit challenging to make. I decided to sew the bottoms on with the machine instead of the suggested hand sewing. Not so easy to make it around the toe. I needed a mini machine and smaller hands.
More later.

Photo session gone awry!

Normally I would crop this first picture closer. You don't want to see my messy terrace. Notice please the white blob in the background. Apparently I have neglected Evie Evil, because this morning it was just too much for her. As you can see, she scared all three of us terribly. Henry is telling Poke if you don't move she'll leave you alone!!! Poke of course doesn't believe him.

How not to bind a quilt.....

Do anything but try! For instance, make a bunch of bags! I guarantee your quilt will never get bound....Or, play with your cat. If you don't have a cat, borrow one......

If you can't borrow one, make one.

Just a fun day

Spent another fun day with Sherie! We did our tour of the Bullseye glass company. Unfortunately they don't allow pictures in the plant, but it was awesome. They make their own equipment, which I am sure is the reason behind the no photo policy. There was one group of guys making large sheets of glass who have choreographed their movements to an art form. The glass available is overwhelming and it is nice to know we have a good bit of the best offered.

Since we were in the area, my sister thought I should go to the Elephant Delicatessen. Oh my word!! The food was fantastic and the staff was great.

We ended the day with a fashion show for Slippers. She liked it, really she did.......

She's big boned......

Since I am working on the Arts and Crafts thingy with Kelly (Wednesday May 7 be there or I pout), I don't have time to do much more than fall into bed at night. I am thinking of getting us shirts, they will say Old and Tired, one word for each. You KNOW which one I'll be wearing! So, in lieu of a project I've finished, you get Evie! Don't mock her, her daddy does that enough.
