Wedding gift

I made these for a very sweet girl who got married a couple of months ago. (Yes, I am that slow posting things.) I found out she liked these colors and made her a simple bag. She is going to be a teacher and I think teachers always need some sort of bag or another... right?
I had to add a pocket for small things of course. It hangs free from the casing at the top so a zipper seemed in order. I couldn't resist the opportunity to mix it up with color.

Next up are washcloths. I believe you can never have enough.
I had fun knitting these and playing with the stripes. I had no plan to make them this way. I think that's part of my problem when it comes to knitting. No plan. I can read all sorts of other patterns but knitting patterns can make me cross eyed.

I love the cream and red together. I might have to make some like this for myself.

Knit Bandana Bib

Is there ever something you want to do, you think about it for awhile and no solution comes? Then one day you may be doing something you think is totally unrelated, the answer is there and you actually say AH HA out loud to yourself?

Our Bella drools. A. Lot. No worries, we still love her. She wore bibs all day but some were more for the time when she's eating, very cute but way too big. Some were a thin stretch terry that lasted for about three seconds before being soaked through, they weren't cute and they weren't functional.

I started seeing bib bandannas around blog-land and thought that would be a super solution and with all the different fabric choices, they would be cute. Then my next thought was, they will NOT contain the drool. Fast forward a couple of weeks later when I was trying out a new knit wash-cloth pattern. It's started on point and when I was halfway through, I had my ah-ha moment. I finished it off as a triangle, put some velcro on as the closure and when Bella showed up the next day, put it on her. She wore it all day. The bib was wet, her clothes were dry. A serious success! (Can you tell I'm a wee bit proud?) She now has several in different colors to match her clothes. They still cover some of the cuteness that Jess dresses her in but, at least they look like an accessory instead of screaming baby bib.

It's been several weeks since she started wearing them and they really do work. Since they are knit and with the direction of the knit they stretch and move with her. She doesn't mind wearing them, so apparently they are comfortable.

If you knit, these are simple. You already know better than I do how to make these. If you don't knit, and you want one, I will be putting them up in the shop soon.

Knitting And Meeting My Goal

Way back, a long time ago, I decided to try and learn to knit. My Sis knits beautifully. She has knit us many beautiful and useful things. Some of those things were washcloths. Have you ever used a knit washcloth? It's one of those things that makes cleaning fun. They are pretty and they work well. I felt bad asking her to make more. So when I decided to try and learn to knit, it was with this one specific goal in mind. Now, about twenty thirty tries later I have actually been able to make something that resembles a washcloth! These don't come close to my sister's, she uses a gorgeous hemp yarn. Oh, and she never drops stitches or knits instead of purls or makes rectangles instead of squares. I'm using a cotton yarn and I frequently loose my way and make mistakes, there is a difference. They are all loosely based (if only I could pay attention) on the Purlbee's wedding washcloths. In the end though, it doesn't really matter, I use them all. Wonky or square, each are beautiful in their own way. Well except this really long narrow grey one. It's special.....

Bad Photos But A Very Cute Subject

This is from a month ago. Sorry, I have been doing, but not taking the time to take good photos. Or any photos. These are from my phone.  Please, use your imagination and edit them anyway you would like.

When it got cold in Florida, I decided MAC needed a hat. I crocheted one. It was too small. It was kinda ugly too. I decided to try knitting again and  I made four more hats. None. Of. Them. Fit. My only excuse is that I was not in the same state as the baby. The lovely photo of hats on my knees was what I took to text to Jess to show her how clever I was being.  ...... At least I got a lot of practice and his momma let me torment him by making him wear the closet to fitting hat.

Man I love this boy!
