Seaside Home Book Giveaway

**This giveaway is closed!**

I'm SUPER excited to finally tell you all that Micah's Sea Turtle Quilt is in a BOOK!

I was contacted by Suzanne Woods in November of 2010 (right after Micah was born) and asked if I would like to participate. After a bunch of crazy work (thank goodness Mum was there or I don't think I could have done it!) and a good 6 months of having to part with the quilt (talk about nerve racking!) I had almost forgotten all about it.... and then my book arrived in the mail!
It's actually been out for a few weeks (I think?!) but life is crazy right now so I am just getting around to telling you all.
Because it's awesome (and my birthday this week) I want to give away a copy here. So please enter a comment for a chance to win.
Or if you would rather just purchase it you can find it here on Amazon.

I will close the giveaway next Friday morning and draw a name.

We may or may not blog in the mean time... but I promise to fill you in on what's been keeping me so busy next week!

Thank You!

First of all, thanks so much for following us over to our new space! We hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Ours was spent with family, friends and food. It was good.

So on to our winners!

For her choice of pouch from Mums shop number--
 Crafterhours - Adrianna

For her choice of garland from the my shop number--
 Sherie Lee

And for the Suprise number--
Kelly's Korner

So what is the surprise? Well Mum and I were feeling festive and I stumbled on this photograph for sale on etsy the other day. (shop here
It inspired me because I remembered Mum told me that the Cinnamon ornaments were very popular back at the Patch Craft Shop... (Mum still has the ornaments she bought from Mary) and I thought wouldn't it be awesome to make a cinnamon garland?! (I am not sure what they are made out of in this photo- maybe FIMO? )
So we got to work - and decided it was amazing and we must send it out to someone to enjoy or we'd be fighting over who gets to keep it... which would be messy... mainly because of the glitter but also because we both really want it! (I still think I would have won)

We enjoyed it so much we realized  we should just show everyone how to make their own because it's so easy and fun and it will make your house smell like Christmas.

Cinnamon Ornament Garland Tutorial
We used this recipe with variations (I bolded them below).

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon allspice
  • 3/4 cup applesauce
  • 2 tablespoons wood glue

Supplies

ginger bread cookie cutter- we used the Dad from this set which we found at Michaels

Craft hole punch or circle icing decorating tip
Glitter - We used Martha Stewart Glitter in Brownstone
Glue/paint brush - We used Martha Stewart Glitter Glue which includes a brush inside
Ribbon
embroidery needle

Directions

In a medium bowl, stir together dry ingredients. Mix in the applesauce and glue. Work the mixture with your hands 2 to 3 minutes to form a ball. If mixture is too wet, add more cinnamon. If mixture is too dry, add more applesauce.

Lightly dust a clean surface with cinnamon. Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out gingerbread men. You can re-roll dough to get as much as possible out of each batch.

Use a hole punch or circle icing tip to make a hole for hanging with a ribbon.

Dry in a slow oven, 200 degrees F (100 degrees C) for several hours, or air dry in a sunny spot for 4 or 5 days. Some people suggest flipping to keep them nice and flat.

When dry coat top with glue using a paint brush, sprinkle generously with glitter and then knock off  the excess for reuse.
When dry, string on ribbon. We used a continuous piece of ribbon and just went through each arm twice to create a loop, then ran the ribbon along the back to keep each gingerbread man from moving
Enjoy decorating your house with garland or ornaments- these things smell wonderful and with the glitter addition the sparkle like crazy

**Winners** Please contact us with your picks and address information so we can mail your prizes.

And the winner is......

But first, a bit of advice, when sewing with minky, try not to breathe, swallow, blink or wear fleece. Do not drink coffee, tea or any beverage without a lid. Sewing outside might be wise, then minky fuzz can be free. Sneak peek at the minky project....

I managed to not complete one single project yesterday. Quite an accomplishment.....

Sneak peek at another project.
Anyway, thanks for being so kind and for wanting Stuart! You know who said I should just make each one of you a snail. He just has no idea.....

It was fun having a couple of new people pop in, especially Joan! Joan should start a cooking blog. It's something she's very good at. There are other things she is good at too, but the cooking, oh my.
Speaking of which...... The winner is in fact the afore mentioned Joan! Stuart will be on his way too you soon.
That was really fun, maybe I'll do it again sometime...

100th post and a give away!

This is actually my hundreth post. Who knew it could last this long, though I am sure some of you have given up this last month...... It's been busy, I've been tired but I have missed posting. I am surprised by how much I have enjoyed it. Maybe it's silly to want to give something away cause it is not like I am actually anybody but I thought why not, it could be fun. I would love to have done something that is all me but I am going to use someone else's genius for this. So anyway.... This is Belle. She is not the give away. She is going to be on her way to someone special.
This is me. I am not the give away either. I am just showing off my hat. I made it to put in the shop and decided I liked it too much....

This is Stuart. He is the give away. As some of you know I became obsessed with making these little guys from here. I think I need help. In the mean time, if you would like him, leave a comment. I will leave it open until Monday night, then make you know who draw a number for me. After that Stuart will be on his way to a new home. Or, if no one comments, he and Antonio will figure out some thing else to do.....
