Architectural Letters Tutorial

So I didn't plan to do a tutorial but I did snap a few pictures in progress. So hopefully they will give you enough information to get yourself in trouble!
I used:
Mat Board
Card Stock
Tissue paper
Glue Gun
Tacky Glue
Paint
Sparkly Modge Podge

Pick your font and Blow it up to the size that you want your letters to be. I used Arial Black at around 600pts. Print and use them as a template to cut out two sets of each letter from your mat board
Next cut a bunch of 1 inch strips out of card stock and accordion them. Using the hot glue gun attach them to one side of the letters.
 Then attach the top

Now I don't have pictures of this next step. But you take additional one inch strips and using the hot glue sparingly attach the strips around the outside of the letters overlapping the edges. It should look like this when you are done

Now the fun part. Water down your glue and decoupage the tissue paper onto the letter forms. I did about 4 layers. Letting in dry between each layer
Paint it to your color preference and then seal it with modge podge

Of course swap out any of the materials for things you have in your house- cardboard, newspaper, starch...

Let me know if you try it out I would love to see what your make!

Initial Love

I decided it would be fun to add a little decoration to the kids doors.
So I picked up giant letters at Joanns the other day and covered them in some Denyse Schmidt fabric I had at the house alla the Anthropologie style I've seen about on Pinterest. I used an interfacing under the fabric to get rid of the cardboard look and opted for grosgrain ribbon on the side instead of wrapping the fabric. Instant gratification is awesome I barely do any projects that take just a few minutes and glue!
Gratuitous Micah shot... he does have other clothes it just so happens I did all of my picture taking the same afternoon... and he's such a ham I had to share a few! Also the pink on his face is strawberries which he stole off his Dad's birthday cake...

A,B,C,1,2,3's

I finished this project just before my mum and dad arrived....when I was supposed to be cleaning the house... but it turned out to be perfect timing because apparently the guys really like to play with them!
I had seen this idea a while back on a blog... not sure which one exactly but I saved the picture for inspiration and eventually found the source of the picture was this etsy store. So if you would like to get your own I would highly suggest purchasing them from there- her prices are super reasonable.

Of course if you are nuts like me and have a bunch of beautiful wool felt that your awesome mother has sent you and decide to make your own I would recommend using these magnets.

I made a full set of upper and lower case, an additional set of vowels and 2 sets of 0-9... I have been informed though that more vowels are needed!
just when I thought I was done!
I have a lot more to show you I know I kind of dropped off for a while... and probably will again... but lots is going on... and eventually I will get pictures of it and show it to you!
