The Greenpoint Cardigan

The Greenpoint Cardigan - Do you ever have one of those moments when you are looking for a particular something, and then that exact thing practically falls in your lap? This happened to me three weeks ago when Adrianna, one half of the Crafterhours dynamic duo, released her first pattern. Oh. My. Goodness. It is cute. It is adaptable. It is unisex. It is downloadable. You can find it on her new shop website, "Hey June Handmade". I knew exactly what fabric I wanted to use for my first attempt. I've had a Michael Miller clown stripe in brown sitting around for a couple of years. Not a single time did it speak up and say, "make me into this!", til now..... Within two days of downloading the pattern, I had the Greenpoint Cardigan made up, it is that straightforward. Three weeks later, I did the buttonholes and sewed the buttons on.... go me..... Those buttonholes almost didn't happen, my machine and I had a mild disagreement over whether it would make them for me. It actually won, but I'm not going to talk about it.
I could go on and on about the pattern but I'll post a bunch of photos instead.
My grandson was my inspiration and model. He was a very good sport, even if he was bribed.
The boy kills me and I love him so.

Buttoned up, it has a nice slim but not tight fit. The raglan sleeve makes for easy movement and this boy moves.

Micah really got into modeling. He even turned back and forth so we could different views.

 Ahhhh blowing kisses?!
NOPE! Eating brownies. You can see a bit in his right hand in the photo below.
Unbuttoned the look becomes cool and casual.

And then he was done!

Disclosure: Though this pattern was given to me by the designer the decision to make it, love it, write about it and make it again are entirely my own.

Goin' Round in Circles Quilt

So last year I lost the beginnings of a quilt. It wasn't a tragedy because I ended up making this quilt instead.
It was a mystery.
Maybe meant to be.

About three months ago it was found.
Seriously, I don't understand this. Jessica and I both must have looked over it a dozen times.
It turned into a collaboration.
It became a gift.
A Joel Dewberry charm pack, some Kona solids and a yummy Michael Miller Dumb Dot in aqua. Machine applique, plus lots of hand stitching with different colored pearl cottons.
Two tags because it amused us and we knew it would amuse the recipient.
She says she loves it.....

Addicted? ...and an update

Quite possibly... there is just nothing like making a quilt! Yes it's greens and greys again. I might have a bit of a green and grey thing going on right now.
I've been wanting to do a stacked coin quilt for a while... I didn't realize you could vary the sizes of the coins... well I guess you can do anything you want to right? It took me a little bit to decided on a pattern for these fabrics I wanted them to be larger so you could really see the fabric. They're by Premier prints, Birch Fabrics and Monaluna. With some Michael Miller TaDot thrown in on the front and for the backing. The binding is Kona Cotton Lime.
Yummy polka Dots... there is a mini version I just finished and I will try to get pictures of soon... it's for the shop!
Meanwhile this ones for the living room this one has already been put to some serious use!

And just to update everyone still no baby----9 more days until my due date... blahhh... but it's actually a VERY, VERY good thing because Micah got sick last week and has proceeded to infect the rest of us with the worst sickness we've seen in over a decade... no joke... so sorry if we are a little slow with the posting or seem a little off...because we are! Mum and Dad are hopefully on the mend now and once they're better we will be more then happy to have Bella make an appearance! Don't worry we will keep you updated!

A Little Charm Quilt

The other day Jess said, "We should make some stroller quilts."
Then she made three.
With appliqué.
I managed to eek out one in twice the time!
My challenge was to use fabric I had, and I did. Even down to the batting. Of course it's tiny, 35 x 35, so I'm not sure it should really count as fabric out...
Michael Miller Pod Pozy charm pack.
 Kaufman Kona chocolate border.
Michael Miller Ta-Dot for the binding and back.
Sorry about the not so artistic sun spots. I wasn't in the mood for a do over.
Next up is my gratuitous baby shot. Avert your eyes if you are tired of these........
Trying to capture golden baby lashes on a wiggly boy.
Heaven.
