Ribbon Storage

We're still working on getting Mum's sewing room completely organized. This last weekend I made her get rid of her old ribbon storage ... it had no where to go in her new room. So I came up with this fast solution that uses the space behind her door
Here's what we used
Mark the center of each finial tip
drill out a guide hole for your hook
 screw in the hook
I used a piece of fabric to protect the hook and pliers to make the job easier
Using a level mark 1 to 2 inches in from either side of your dowel
Drill, insert anchor and screw in your finial
fill up your dowels with your ribbon collection and hang
The supplies for the two rows ran only $12 (she will be needing more rows)
Which seemed like a good deal to me since I paid more then that for half the storage for the system I bought from Michaels
Now if we could just get the rest of the room organized that fast!

Ubers Birthday Party

Here is the front of the Birthday card I made for Uber

Mum threw him a Mexican themed party- which was hysterical and this is why I love my husband...
he's more than willing (in fact I would probably say happy to) rock a sombrero all night long! And how about Micah's face in the next shot... lol
Poor child is going to be sooo scarred!

I have SO many projects I am working on... can't wait to show them to you... one of them is trying to get Mum posting again- I tell you what people she is making stuff and holding out on you- lol!!

Randomness

Micah received this awesome silver spoon (lol) from his awesome Uncle Kris and I wanted to display it until Micah can actually use it so I broke out some of my Martha Stewart craft stash to whip up a shadow box... I kinda love it!

I FINALLY found night stands for the Master bed room this has been a LONG hunt ... years actually. I had something in mind and I never found it exactly and anything close was sooo ridiculously expensive that there was no way I was settling. I happened to be playing around on pottery barn the day after thanksgiving and came across these... on clearance and with no delivery surcharge- Perfect!
I loved them even more when they arrived! I also bought the charging stations which are great (also clearance and free shipping!). The baskets underneath are Target. Now I just need to get the headboard done I think I have finally decided to make one for this room... well see how long that takes me!
How cute are these? These are some that Mum made from Heather Baileys Tutorial they fit him so well! Of course I lost one the first time I took him out of the house in them... not the shoes fault I am pretty sure they came off when I pulled him out of his carrier : ( but no worries she said she'll make him another pair!
Micah in his prison outfit...
He is getting so close to laughing he smiles at you and makes happy noises but he hasn't actually laughed yet...

oh and I actually finished a big craft project yesterday so hopefully will get pictures of it to show you tomorrow!

Closet Organization

Finally a completed craft project... of course the smaller easier one is mine!
I wanted a hamper and a way to separate different sized clothing in Micah's closet ... this is only one bar there is another bar above plus a drawer with larger sizes... I kept forgetting where the different sizes begun and ended which is really irritating when you are trying to get a sometimes fussy baby dressed... so after a few days of brain storming I came up with this solution

Wraps for the bars. I wanted to be able to read the sizes looking into the closet so the plastic sideways discs weren't going to cut it for me...plus I wanted to make mine... I am totally jazzed with the way that they turned out. I just did quick hand embroidered numbers and stole moms sewing machine (while she held Micah... see she helps with every project) to sew them up and used iron on Velcro. If anyone is interested I can do up a quick tutorial ... it may take me a few days... lol...
Next the hamper. I had made a quick drawing of my idea and had cut all the pieces out roughly to the size I wanted them and then threw the project at mum to complete ... which she was really nice about doing (not sure how long that is going to last! : P )... she of course made the whole thing even better. For some reason she is not super happy with it and told me I could blog it... Personally I think its fantastic and I wanted you all to see what an awesome job she did with someone else's half baked idea.

So I have ONE more thing to complete and then the nursery is done (for now). Ubers parents are here tomorrow so I am am hoping to steal some crafting time this next week while they spend quality time with Micah. I really can't wait to show you the completed project!

Now for some gratuitous baby shots-
Micah visiting his Dad at work!
Micah with his amazing grandparents -can't wait to show you some pictures of him with his other set of equally amazing grandparents ; )
And AGH! Uber clean wrapped in a towel Micah! How stinking cute is this towel?
Alright I am off to chew on my baby!

Tidbits

Finally pictures of the beautiful clothing my mum made and sent to me. It took me longer to get the straps pinned and sewed on then it took her to make the entire dress... I am just so slow lately! I LOOVVVE this dress and the fabric- it reminds me of drapes (this is a good thing) which reminds me of the movie The Sound of Music when she sews clothing for the kids out of the drapes... and the mustard yellow color makes me so happy!
Uber was not doing a great job with the pictures so this is the best out of the bunch and I have no idea why I was pointing at the plant... I was trying to get the jasmine behind me in the photo to show my mum how huge it is. And I just realized that these are in the wrong order since I FINALLY got a hair cut... 7 months is too long to go without a hair cut! She had to chop a lot off to make it healthy... plus all the hair my stylist is cutting right now is being collected to make mats that will suck up the oil spill... not sure on all the details but hey why not give your hair for a good cause right?!
This skirt is great it feels like air on and is so comfortable to put on because it doesn't put a ton of pressure on my stomach. SOOOO nice ! The belly bands you can buy are great for extending your non maternity wardrobe but my stomach tends to hurt from all of the pressure by the end of the day!

My tiny garden is growing like crazy
And just for fun... hmmm fun maybe the wrong term... I came across this cleaner at Williams-Sonoma and had to try it out. This totally satisfies my OCD tendencies I have an awesome stainless steal cleaner that is environmentally friendly and does wonders for the inside of my pots but I couldn't get the bottoms of my pots clean (these stains long predate the cleaner and wouldn't budge). Bar Keepers Friend does an amazing job everything looks brand new again with very minimal scrubbing. I'm totally in love!

Feel free to laugh at my need to keep the bottom of my pots clean... I know I have issues!

Happy Mothers Day...

Better late than never!
This was actually finished before mothers day ....barely... BUT it wasn't fired in time...
We had a girls night out a few weeks ago and we went to a paint your own pottery place so I finally painted a piece just for my Mum. I did it in the Portuguese Pottery style that Williams Sonoma carries (though it is apparently not available online anymore I have seen it in the stores recently) ... will I ever get over this style? Probably not and since I will never be able to afford it (or want a piece of pottery that expensive...) I am perfectly happy painting my own! In fact I am more happy painting my own! Now I just hope she REALLY wanted some for herself!

Super simple inside

I made up the peacock character because I couldn't find any more animals to copy and had one more spot to fill.... I think it looks pretty good though I will do it slightly different if I to it again. Other than that I stuck pretty close to the examples I could find. Just slight variations of the tree and bunny.

Hopefully she likes it... but if not it looks very nice on top of my fridge!!
