Savannah's Baby Shower Gift

I didn't do the invites this time- and I wasn't able to attend the shower either but I did have to send back something to a super sweet Mom-to-be.
Jacksonville is getting to be a very crafty group and not only that but she is related to a lot of crafty people. So coming up with a gift was just a touch hard. It finally hit me I should make her a doll.... totally useless to the new mom but hopefully fun too.

Meet Miss'E' and her dog Mayberry.
She is Black Apples doll pattern with alternate pattern pieces I pinned on pinterest (not sure where these are originally from... they link to Martha Stewart also but aren't what that post links to)

Bella was sure this was her in doll form- I mean the world does revolve around her right? But this was actually just my guess at what coloring their daughter might have and Mayberry is supposed to be the miniature and not in anyway exact tiny version of one of their real dogs that is a standard poodle.

Bella's dolls are naked.... a LOT... so I gave Miss'E' permanent undergarments and made her shoes permanent (because who wants to find and put on tiny shoes all the time?? Answer is not me...ha) Her shoes were made from some leather I had in the drawer.

Her hair and flower are wool felt. All the detail work was hand embroidered.
For now she has one little peasant top dress and a very small version of Mom's baby bibs (which I knit myself because I have finally learned how to do a very, very limited amount of knitting-- don't worry I won't be sending anyone scarves!)

Mayberry is also made of wool felt and hand sewn together. His (Her?) pattern was made up by me... super straight forward and simple. I wanted to be sure the baby could play/chew on this and there be no worries.

To be practical a couple of felt hair clips and toy bags were also sent... because why not... I have such a hard time not making ALL THE THINGS for new babies....

Now who is having the next baby?? I am all out of pregnant friends!

Olivia's Shower

My Aunt and Uncle welcomed their first baby this last November. So of course shower invites and presents had to be made. She chose the Eliza Duvet from Pottery Barn Kids as the main fabric for her nursery so I used that design  to create her invites.

Favor tags and Thank you cards were also created.
This was the first time I created an invite completely on one page- normally with the watercolor I have made all of the pieces seperately and then I rearrange them in photoshop to create the invite. So in this case I was able to give Cindy the original watercolor which I put a bible verse on. So she can keep it (or not...haha)

Hannahs gift

We are getting close to the gift giving time of year again. And since I never showed this I thought it would be a good time to show you guys a fun gift I did last year that I would personally love to get. It was for christmas but it would be awesome as a hostess or shower gift as well.
Glass Etching. Have you guys tried this?! It is SO MUCH FUN ... you will be trying to figure out how many things in your house need a permanent label!
I also borrowed dads wood burning tool and personalized some wood utensils

And then added in a handmade apron (apparently it didn't occur to me to take a photo of it unfolded) and two screen printed tea towels.

What's fun about this is you could just buy it all and not customize or hand make anything-- so you don't even have to get crafty to do the same thing for someone!

Horse Baby Shower

We are apparently all parties here.
We recently did a shower and it had a horse theme (LOVE) here are the invites.

We decided to simplify the spread this time and pack lunches for the guests. In case you think about doing this for a large party- it's not simpler it's a ton more work and energy.
But it was fun and lovely when it was done.
Each box was packed with a croissant, chicken salad, potato salad and fruit salad. It was delicious!
 blueberry and cherry trifles
 peanut Butter and chocolate muffins

We also had guest sign a book - how fun is that?!

Baseball Baby Shower

Realized I never shared the Baseball invite I created for the shower or the shower

Mom was on top of it and finally took pictures at this shower. We host a lot of showers... we never have pictures of them... we are terrible about it. And we have a few really awesome ladies that do a lot of really great decorating.
 How adorable are these cupcakes?
This lovely young lady made them. She's awesome and adorable. We all dressed up in baseball fan attire for the shower- it was the most comfortable I have ever been at a shower. She actually is a wedding planner/coordinator (I am not sure I have her title right... ). Doesn't that sound like fun?!

I wish I could show you more pictures but for privacy I am going to keep it to the ones without people ...
Hope you enjoyed!
PS I received the pictures from the photographer for Bella's 1st birthday... I will try to share that soon! SOOOO love the way her birthday came out!

1,2,3 strikes we're out....

Baby showers are so fun (so much better then wedding showers... gift giving wise of course). All of the little baby items are just too cute. Our most recent shower was baseball themed so I went back and forth on making  verse buying and if making what to make... so it finally occurred to me that a mobile would be really fun.

I have a lot of anxiety giving people made items. Because I don't mind if they don't want it I just want them to give it back if they don't want it... please don't humor me if you don't like something I will get you something that you do like. SO anyway that has nothing to do with this that is just a public service announcement...

I looked around and took several ideas and then added my own touches

It turned out very well. And just so you know mobiles are frustrating to photograph... it might have something to do with the fact that they are mobile... possibly
The couple this is for are very big into baseball. Or at least he is and she humors him... not 100% on that one but she doesn't dislike it. They even had a baseball themed wedding. This maybe too much information I don't know I haven't blogged in so long that I am not sure what is worth saying.
The scoreboard is from a game that had meaning to him... I think the 2nd game of the 88 world series... I can't remember for sure I am trying to block out all memories having to stitching that board twice...
Really other then the scoreboard this was blast to make and came together fairly quickly.
I might even be willing to make one again but I will never make another scoreboard...
And of course not a complicated logo either...
It was hard not to keep it. I have no personal use for it but I just loved the way it came together.

Lauren's Bridal Shower Invite

I (not so recently) helped host a bridal shower and I was in charge of the invitations.
I was (who am I kidding- still am) severely lacking in time when I made these- Bella was 3 months.  So I relied very heavily on my Pinterest boards for inspiration... I wish this design was my own....just trying to keep it real here.
I ended up using a Minted invite that had been featured on a greenweddingshoes.com inspiration board. With a few change ups it really fit the brides style to a T... Her wedding color was Purple and she would be carrying Mums.

I had them printed at Office Max... because it's the closest printer. And then used vellum envelopes and washi tape as a seal
I really love doing graphic work and even though I do wish I would have had more time to be original I really love the way that these turned out. I guess that is the nice thing about doing things for friends...
I do have another invite if I can get it photographed... which could mean you will see it a year from now!
Hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season!
