2010

So, a little while after You Know Who and I had fondue for two.....

The fireworks began. Well, people have actually been setting them off all week.... They began with a vengeance at about 2350. That led to this,

I am not sure we'll get him out of the tub this year.

Since Christmas is over...

Here is the gift I made for my Aunt Sherie.

She had asked for a pillow with a bee on it (a year ago... oops) so I finally got it together and decided to use it on a kitchen aide cover instead.
I am pretty sure the lining fabric is an Amy Butler print. It screamed sherie to me. I don't know why maybe it's the circles : )
Well I am not being creative around here at all. I am hoping to get back to it soon but life really seems to be getting in the way at the moment!

Happy Holidays

We had a lovely Christmas Eve Older, Younger, You Know Who and I. It was spent with old and new friends. We ate, laughed, sang and watched kids open gifts.
Today was very, very laid back and quiet. I cooked a little and baked a little. The guys managed to eat most of it. I tormented them by taking this photo before dinner. I love it when they humor me.
After dinner we opened a couple gifts. Brinkley, still a puppy at heart waits every year for what his gramma sends him. He shared with the guys, then got down to business....

This is what getting down to business looks like.
I am afraid that the ginger bread man has indeed been caught and chewed to smithereens. It got a lot uglier than this. I almost couldn't look.

I gifted myself with starting another project. I've been wanting to do these for quite awhile.

Colbie Caillat

Last Friday night mum took Uber and I out to see Colbie Caillat. It was a lot of fun but we didn't bring a camera. So we made due with my phone... which as it turns out doesn't take very good pictures.
You have to stay very still! Which is not something any of us are good at!
It was a small venue which was nice. But they built the space on an angle which was not so cool. We were upstairs where you could sit and we were really close to the stage but we couldn't see it because the wall curved. We ended up going down stairs and hanging out in the crowd which was a lot more fun even if you could only stand.

I think we all had a blast.
Colbie is totally cute and normal looking.

We had a blast with mum here. Uber misses her she had coffee ready for him and had everything clean the whole time she was here. He's been spoiled... ok me too... love you mum!!!!

A little bit of what we did

On my trip out to see my daughter and son-in-law I took along a few projects. Some had already been started, some I never got to. I can't stand not being able to make something if I want to. I had such a wonderful time with Jess and Uber. We didn't take a lot of pictures, too busy just having fun. Even went to see Colby Caillet one night! Did we take a good camera with us? NOPE. It was fun and we have the memories.

I'd started this zig zag mini a long time ago but never got around to binding it. This was the last of the zig zag techniques that I wanted to try. I still like the half square triangles the best.

Because I don't have enough unfinished stuff around, I decided to try knitting. I am so inspired by my sister's stuff. Even it I can just make dish rags like hers I will be happy.

The "Uptown Coat" I made for Jessica.

This is a dress I made for her while I was there. It is the Socialite Dress from the pattern by Anna Maria Horner. I used linen that she picked out. It is a cute pattern and an easy to wear dress.

A hat for someone, Jess is just modeling it for me.
These two items are presents from my mom. She made them both. I think she did an awesome job. The painting was inspired by some paintings she and I saw in Venice. I think it's just yummy! There are tiny crystals on it that don't show up well in this photo.
We made tiny books. Jess was wanting a small item to put in her customers boxes when she sells something. They were fun to make. It looked like a sweat shop for awhile.

Though it rained for almost the entire time I was at her house, it was 80 when I left and came home to 27. If you expand this photo you can see some perfect snow flakes.
Another hat for someone, finished today.

Nice Surprise!

Shells on JAX beach

Sew Mama Sew is a wonderful resource for all things sewing and crafty. They have a blog, a store, a forum, a flickr page and a facebook page, among other things. This morning I had an email asking to use my wool Uptown Coat as an example of what you can do with that pattern. They put it on their Flickr page with a link to my blog, hoping to inspire people to purchase the pattern from their store.

Needless to say I am thrilled. It was a nice thing to have happen after a very, very long trip back home. A trip that went way too quickly. Separating me from people that I love so much.

In the shop...

I have a few new covers that will be making their way into the shop. I have been playing with my graphics on the covers and this is the first one I can show you (you'll be seeing the other one soon...) My mum has been wanting me to use more of my graphic work on fabric so I am finally getting around to it!

Robert Kaufman lemon print on the inside. Love his fabric.
We are having a blast around here I have more to post about but haven't gotten any pictures yet.

Well I better get back to work we are having a stay at home in our pajamas and sew day.

Hope your having as much fun as us!
