I love visitors!

***WARNING*** picture heavy post that may only interest family members!

Corrie got here on Monday morning and our weather decided to behave beautifully for her. I took Tuesday off and we met up with Beau and Mason (Beau's room mate that I am sure you will be seeing more of around here... better picture of him farther down in the post)
Brinkley is VERY over being confined to his leash on the beach. Beau is being slow about getting him a longer leash so he can really enjoy the water. Even though the weather was gorgeous the water is still very cold.
Adorable Corrie!

We walked a little and then popped a squat until we were all sufficiently pink!
Wednesday night we went to see Ingrid Michaelson and Mat Kearney perform at the Florida Theatre (poor Uber had school). It was a fantastic concert Corrie wanted to see Ingrid and Beau wanted to see Mat. I personally was just excited to go out and hear live music. I don't keep up with specific artists I just like music but it turns out I liked a lot of their music already I just didn't know it was theirs.

Here's both the bands, plus the girl(s) who opened the show Cara Salimando. They all sang together at the end. If you get a chance to see them in concert I would definitely jump at it. Ingrid was very funny, had a great stage presence and was also very nerdy which is completely endearing.
Thursday was bit overcast but Uber took Beau and Corrie out kayaking.
They both enjoyed it. Which is good because we were planning on dragging Beau out with us whether he liked it or not!

We went down to Saint Augustine yesterday.
Goofed off at the fort.
And then headed back up to the pier in Jacksonville to goof off a little more before finally going home so Corrie could finish up homework.

But not before bugging a few birds...

This one did NOT like Beau he was having none of him scooting closer to him.

We got Corrie dropped of at the airport this morning. We had planned on going out to the beach and hitting up an antique store I keep forgetting about but the weather got a lot colder today so instead I dragged Uber to Lowes to buy new plants !!!! My FAVORITE thing to do!
Brinkley is staying with us this weekend and he has finally decided he does like going out the back door (before it was torture you had to force him through the door and then he would cower the whole time he was outside) This morning I walked out back and was sliding the door shut and he came barreling towards the door to follow me and ran smack into the glass. It was really funny... but not.
Anyway he sat and watched us the whole time we worked. What a dorky dog.
COLOR!!
I am SOOOO happy spring is here.

What I did today

Of course it still needs to be quilted and bound. I sketched it out on Monday, bought the fabrics on Friday, drew the plan Friday night and finished the top today. It 36 x 48. Just big enough to get this idea out of my head and into fabric. It is all Kona cottons. As usual I can't remember the actual color names.
I'm not having much luck with the long arm lately so who knows when it will be truly finished.

Sad

We had to say goodbye to my sweet Evie this morning. After a five month illness she was tired.
We'll miss her a lot.

It's been a while!

I'm sure you all thought I forgot how to login to my blog... I actually almost had! Blog what blog? It's about the same with crafting for me right now. Help! My work life is eating my fun life...

Anyway

I have managed to do one thing this last month.

Adrienne contacted me about creating a logo for her. She sells jewelry and accessories so after a bit of brainstorming we came up with a pendant hanging from a Celtic knot. The pendant is modeled after a pendant she wire wrapped and used in one of her necklaces. I love how personal this makes her logo!

I am really enjoying the opportunities I've been getting to create logo's for people. It has been so much fun to to collaborate with people.

And speaking of people I've collaborated with Sherie has opened her etsy shop Catbirdfish Studio go check it out. I can totally vouch for the beauty and quality of her work. In fact if you want something you better hurry I already bought the elephant before she could even announce she was open - yes I am totally shady like that!
Well I am off I have another project in the works - Crazy! I know - you might actually hear from me again in the next month.
My adorable cousin (daughter of Sherie) is coming out next week so if nothing else maybe I will share her cuteness with you!

My Sis Has an Etsy Shop!

I am very excited that Sherie has finally taken the plunge. Go see her awesome creations, you won't be sorry. Where did she get her logo? Jessica of course!

The Ongoing Series of Silly Bags and a Skirt

I don't know why. I'm just that way.
I modeled this after a bag I bought made out of a polyester fabric. I like it, it's light and pretty but it's not lasting. I've already snagged it. My version is smaller, the straps are longer and I put the snap straps so I can roll it up for storage. It's about 17 x 15 so, for me, just about right.

I didn't have enough fabric of either choice so I added the solids. On the first one, I added the extra fabric along the way.  For the second, I got a bit smarter. I sewed the green onto the white print and did the embellishment sewing down the seam. Then I treated it as the complete piece of fabric it now was, laid out my pattern and cut. Super simple.

I wanted to get home early enough to have You Know Who take photos of me modeling it.... that didn't happen.

Last but not least is a simple skirt I made for my M-I-L. Hope she likes it. It's the same style as my toile skirt. Perfect for summer, I'm thinking I'll make more.

Fabric, a Birthday and a Car Show

I received my special fabric from Amy Schimler on Friday. I love it. The owls are big, about 7-9 inches tall. I've had it laying across my old wingback chair and I'm thinking.....yes.
What follows is mostly for my FIL. If you hate cars, stop now.
Yesterday was You Know Who's birthday. He asked to go to the Retro Classics Car Show that happens here every year at the Messe. We'd not been to the new messe location so didn't quite know what to expect. The place is huge, with enough parking for everyone. We enjoy the classic German and American cars the most. I was playing with my 50mm lens and using no flash. With the crowds, that meant a lot of close ups. Or maybe I was just into grills and hood ornaments......

I think I should put this curtian in the Mini, no?
They also had a few people selling odds and ends. Some were interesting, some could be considered politically incorrect, still interesting though.

This olive tree has to be at least 100 years old. It was very expensive.
I think I want these chairs.
Later!
