My second go at the Uptown Coat by Favorite Things. I'm hanging in the shop hoping it inspires more people to sew clothing. Thanks Jennifer for taking the photos for me.....

Love it! I'm about to make my second one too, with some pinstriped wool from a thrift store. I seem to be moving verrrrrrry slowly, though. I think I'm too lazy to cover buttons, though.
ReplyDeleteI really like this one too! and those covered buttons are very cool on it!
ReplyDeleteRobyn, Can't wait to see your second version.
ReplyDeleteKatelyn, hurry and make yours (in all your free time) cause apparently Robyn and I are the only two people in the world who have made this so far.
I love this coat! ANd it's sooo you Corinnea. Stylish and cute!
ReplyDeleteI like this one two, but the purple is still my favorite. It's just so you.
ReplyDeleteOh, I know that should have been to no two.
ReplyDeletereally like this color combo too! but the purple is my fave!
ReplyDeleteOh if only I could sew like you! Then I too would be stylish. I absolutely adore your coats! But, I must agree with the others, the purple is definitely your color! I'm going to go try to make some shopping bags. Boring nylon shopping bags that I'm sure I'll mess up because the nylon is so slippery! Ack!
ReplyDeleteour lqs has this pattern, you think i could do it?? My sewing skills have not improved much, but i love this jacket, was thinking a wool/cashmere blend in grey.....
ReplyDeleteLooooove it! It's incredible... I've decided not to even try, because the apron threw me for a loop and I know I would screw it up. I want one that looks as good as yours, or none at all. :)
ReplyDeleteAnother success!! Are you sleeping? eating? when do you have time to do all that sewing? my fav is the lavendar one.
ReplyDeleteAhhh! I love that jacket! WELL DONE!
ReplyDeleteI came back to add something else ... I noticed you said in your other post about this jacket that they left some things out in the directions. I found that annoying, too. Like how to finish the outside front corners, which I did figure out on my own.
ReplyDeleteBut also, I have done several patterns by them and they always have you buy way too much fabric. Like on some, I'll have a whole yard or more left over. It wastes a lot of money.
OK, rant over. It's a cute enough jacket to make up for those issues!
And, I decided to cover my own buttons after seeing yours.
Thanks so much for all the coat love!
ReplyDeleteSher- Yes, I thnk you can do this. Your fabric choice sounds yummy. I think I could talk you through any tough spots.
Robyn- I find their patterns call for too much fabric but I always over estimate in case of mistakes so for these patterns I just buy what they suggest, knowing I'll have plenty. Glad you're going to try the covered buttons! Yes, it is cute enough to make up for the lack of direction on some of the finishing touches.
Oooooh! it's super duper! the lining is perfect and the corduroy, yes... it's darling, I would SO buy a coat like this!
ReplyDeleteThese are just amazing!
ReplyDeleteOk lady, I luv u, buh bye!
ReplyDeleteI actually meant to say: " who cares about the coat! Seen one seen them all. What you need to be looking at is the bibs and aprons!!. Holy cow, who made those?? So unique...and well made..!!". he he he he, I'm so funny:)
