School House Tunic

This really is one of my all time favorite go to patterns. The shirt is comfortable. I like matching fabrics to the shirts I have. Most of all it is cute and easy! You can make one of these in just a couple of hours.
I found a gorgeous mens shirting fabric at the same time that I found the madras fabric. I knew this was what I wanted it to be and was able to make it last Sunday. I wish you could touch it, like butta.

  4. I love it in this mens shirting fabric, looks very lightweight. I like this pattern too and it's true it's easy; it was the first top I sewed.

  5. Hi, Just found your blog, because i was looking up pictures of the schoolhouse tunic on flickr!

I'm in the process of making mine right now, and wondering if you sewed down your plackets to the bodice front? it would appear to make a seam right down the front!? Is that right? Can you skip this step and just hem the placket?

Was hoping to finish tonight, but don't want to screw it up! Any help/ advice would be very much appreciated!

  10. That looks really cool - even cooling in these hotter days over here ;-)) Would you please let me know which pattern you used? Maybe that would be one I could re-start my clothing sewing career with ;-))

  11. Love it! I've made two of these tops already, too. My first one was with shirting fabric and it's fabulous. The second one was with a cotton/linen blend. It's pretty fabulous too! I think I want to try a sleeveless one, but I'm not sure how it will come out.

  12. Your tunic looks great... I've had this pattern for a while and keep putting off making it. You've inspired me to dig it out this weekend! Hope it looks as good as yours.
