Dresses for Bella

My Granddaughter is a cutie. She is three and a half months old. She loves talking and will wait for you to look at her, so she has your undivided attention, for a chat. Sometimes when she's very sleepy she will "sing" herself to sleep. It makes me laugh.

It's a good thing I started early on dresses for her because time flies and it's just hard to find moments for everything. Does that ever happen to you?

This of course is the hopscotch shirt pattern by Oliver + S. I was able to get all three of the smallest sizes from a yard of fabric. We got this Michael Miller knit from fabric.com. Thank goodness Jess is happy about having the same dress/top for Bella. They are just that cute an comfy for her.

I finished these with my serger and used a double needle for the hems.

Here she is modelling the smallest size. We were having a serious chat, as you can see.

Below is the smallest of the first trio I made. I made a bit long and she has already gotten so much taller!

I seriously could watch her for hours.

Knitting And Meeting My Goal

Way back, a long time ago, I decided to try and learn to knit. My Sis knits beautifully. She has knit us many beautiful and useful things. Some of those things were washcloths. Have you ever used a knit washcloth? It's one of those things that makes cleaning fun. They are pretty and they work well. I felt bad asking her to make more. So when I decided to try and learn to knit, it was with this one specific goal in mind. Now, about twenty thirty tries later I have actually been able to make something that resembles a washcloth! These don't come close to my sister's, she uses a gorgeous hemp yarn. Oh, and she never drops stitches or knits instead of purls or makes rectangles instead of squares. I'm using a cotton yarn and I frequently loose my way and make mistakes, there is a difference. They are all loosely based (if only I could pay attention) on the Purlbee's wedding washcloths. In the end though, it doesn't really matter, I use them all. Wonky or square, each are beautiful in their own way. Well except this really long narrow grey one. It's special.....

Isabella's Night light

So I've had a few requests for how I put together Isabella's night light so here it is.... 

Supplies

1- anchored hook

3- 3m hooks

fishing line

6 pack accordion lanterns

6 tissue balls

white corded string lights 

extension cord

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- 

Screw in anchored hook 6" in from each wall. 

Attach the 3m hooks to top of cabinet about 4" back. 

plug in lights to extension cord, swag white string lights from ceiling to 3m hooks very loosely 

 using fishing line hang the 3 largest lanterns from ceiling hook 

 mix in the smaller lanterns to fill in the gaps

 tuck/hang tissue balls in the additional gaps

 plug in your lights and ENJOY!

*a few additional notes-- I plugged the extension cord into the outlet that is connected to the wall switch- much easier to turn on and off! Also I don't leave this on all night in her room. I just turn it on when I need it, it's dim enough to not wake either of us up too much but casts enough light to be able to change diapers safety.
