Micah's Room

So this is way too many pictures... but whatever I LOVE the way his big boy room turned out so you will just have to deal with it! 

It's not too different from the nursery everything that Isabella doesn't need stayed with him. But there is a whole lot of new stuff- most of it things we (or someone... ahem... grandpa) already owned  and they all made their way into his room to make one super fun kids room. We decided (Uber talked me into) not to paint anything since it's a lot of work and he would have been the one doing it, so this is the reason for the builder grade white/cream walls... I do miss color... but it's temporary and left more money for some new fun things!

I just have to say this toy shelf is looking really empty ... but that is only because if you could see the living room when these pictures were taken he had dragged everything out and strewn it all over ... so don't feel bad for him and think he needs toys!

 Yes it's a bear rug in a child's room. It's awesome and he LOVES the thing so why not!

 Dad's Zebra window is finally getting the amount of light it's always deserved. This west facing window gets crazy sunlight so the black in the Zebra gives enough shade that I leave this window open all of the time. There is so much sunlight in this house compared to the town home. 

 The mischievous boy ran through while I was taking pictures-- can you tell which ones were taken after his arrival? 

 Transitioning him to the bed turned out to be relatively stress free - of course Uber took care of it so really I don't know first hand - haha - there is usually a safety rail there I just removed it for the pictures. Also do you see all of his quilts? This boy is spoiled!

 Have you noticed the gondola? That is another Grandpa addition it's really awesome and it moves and has little passengers which thrills Micah.

 The Art Wall - this has been the project I've been waiting to complete before showing you his room. I LOOOOVVVVVEEEE IT! It turned out better then I could have imagined

 Uber and I might have more fun playing with it than Micah does.

 I'll give more details as to how we made it next week sometime.

 I'm guessing anyone who reads our blog also reads Crafterhours but just in case you don't I want you to know these awesome vinyl clothing stickers are totally Susan's idea she even sells them here. But since I have a silhouette and vinyl on hand and needed a few icons she doesn't have I tryed making some myself... though now that I look again at her pj's I think I may want to try again- much cuter! I was working off her first version as inspiration no pj's there... Or maybe she will decide to add swim trunks and shoes and I can just order them from her? She has lots of neat colors... colors are more fun then black! 

These are meant to help his dad find Micah's clothes...so far he really likes them!

Well that is it for Micah's room I will try and get posts together for the rest of the house asap. Maybe I can even get mom to show you the craziness that they have accomplished at their house- tons and tons of projects- and she hasn't shown you a single picture! Yes that's right I am tattling!

Horsing Around

When we got home on New Years Eve Uber informed me we were staying up until midnight... not my initial plan (what?! 10pm is a completely acceptable time for bed on New Years!) and not only that, I had left all of my WIPs at Mum's house.... because I was going to bed! 

So after a brief glance over my project inspiration file I decided Micah needed a stick something. I had saved this picture... I think 4 or so years ago. And after some digging I finally found that these were sold at Wisteria at some point- sorry not anymore. 

So I went through my felt supply (I am trying really hard to use up as much of my supplies as I can over the next few months... since I will soon be giving up the closet space in the guest room), and decided it would have to be a plain old horse since I only seem to have large quantities of brown! 

The project ended up taking the 2 hours until Uber finally let me sleep and then another hour or so the next day. 

 It was actually a lot of fun. I had no plan and no brain. So I just cut out the general shapes I thought should work and then sewed them and then flipped it inside out and looked at it again before making more adjustments. 

 Once the general shape was together I stuffed him and hand stitched on his white spot and eyes. 

 It did end up requiring a quick stop by Joanns for the dowel, a wood plaque to keep his neck nice, and the red strapping. I think the project ran under $6

 And Micah finds it very funny. Although he prefers it if you (read Grandma) ride it around the house and chase him. 

 He does drag it around the house and I am sure when he gets a little bit bigger he will figure out the whole ridding it thing.

 Meanwhile it's still getting plenty of love! 

I also made a carrot... unfortunately I forgot to bring it for the pictures... oh well!

Stuffed Motorcycle

If you get one your child will be this happy! 

just kidding but isn't he adorable? He kept throwing the motorcycle... which I was very frustrated about until Mum reminded he the next day that my Dad plays a game with him where he has Micah throws the pillows...

Anyway this idea popped into my head while I was making Ubers pillow case. There's not a lot of gifts Dads can appreciate when your getting ready for a baby but I ran this idea by him and he thought it was great. Who wants another stuffed animal?! Not him! But a stuffed motorcycle he can get behind! They are now in the shop.

When this kid smiles it kills me. 

This is assisted standing but with the way this boy demands to walk I wont be surprised if he can do it on his own soon (hopefully not too soon...) 

Color Book and Smelly fish

I finished Micah's Color Book. Which has been on my long term to do list forever -- it really wasn't in my plans to make it now but I had time to raid Mums scrap bags so it moved itself to the top of the list! Mum tried to show me paper piecing which is really cool... but I ended up trying to use too many different pieces and being new to the process I ended up being lazy and gave up.

Here's all of the pages before I put the book together

And here it is put together. It's turned out pretty large I think it's about 7x8" and somewhere between 2-3" thick.
I embroidered the front page for texture and hand stitched each page to the cover.
I LOVE the way the spine turned out!
The color names are freezer paper stenciled
And I tried to do something different and funky with each patchwork page
I also tried to have some sort of texture fabric on each page.

I am really happy with how it turned out... especially since I didn't start this with any sort of plan I just let it evolve as I worked on it.
So I realized yesterday that I hadn't shown you all this awesome hat Sherie knit. Micah has the coolest aunt!
I mean who doesn't need a fish eating their head?
I think the one above will go in his photo album!
And this one is Ubers favorite. He's not super steady in his bumbo seat yet his daddy's been working on it with him... don't worry he is heavily supervised when we put him in it - Micah not uber... though I do tend to supervise his dad too!

New Toy

Uber bought me a new toy for the trip!

We've been wanting to get a new camera for a while but kept going back and forth on whether or not to get the new Canon Rebel T1i. Ultimately we decided to go with another point and shoot because we are REALLY lazy and I just know we won't carry it. We currently have a nice hand me down Lumix that is about the size the canon would be and we never carry it because we don't want the bulk and it won't fit into Ubers pocket, we just end up grabbing our old point and shoot that we've taken out kayaking too much and then gripe about it the whole time.

So far I am really happy with it! It has lived in my purse since we got it. Now I just need to sit down and actually read the instructions!

Uber made me do it

I picked up an iphone last night (when I should of been at home resting because I am sick) Uber totally made me do it. And so far this thing is amazing. I really like it! I think the cost is a little ridiculous but a few things that sold me on it is that it will hold all of my music so I dont have to carry a separate player anymore. And now Uber can have my old phone and mp3 player- which he wanted anyway. The internet is INSANE I can read all the blogs I want on it and so far I think it is actually making me more productive, I can do all my internet stuff while I am waiting on things out and about and when I get home I dont really feel the need to jump on the computer. I still haven't tried to blog on it yet so I am not sure if you can or not... I need to get better at typing before I try any of that! I am a little under the weather right now with a lovely sinus infection. I finally got into a doctor today so hopefully all the medication he has me on will have me better if a few days.
Thanks for all the kind words on Ciarra and Robert. Robert passed away yesterday and I am trying not to think about it too much. He was a truly wonderful, humble man and there is just not many of them.

Lazy Saturday

We went out to the driving range to play with Uber's new toy. I took a bunch of picture and it's hysterical he looks angry every time he swings at the ball.

Yes people I bought myself some blinging glasses. I am now going to throw on everyones favorite black eyed peas song and dance around the house... at least Uber will be thrilled.

I LOVE the Schleich figurines I collect them when ever I find them for a good price... I got a few more today the Clydesdale and the goat animal (hmmm not really sure what it is...lol)... yeah I know they are kids toys, I totally let kids who come over play with them! See I am nice!

Moms Bday present for Uber... finally found it today. We were in the toy section of Target (no comment) and I had been looking for this thing forever.

I was all sly like 'which nerf gun was it that you were looking at again?'

Uber 'I am not seeing it (turns around) oh wait there it is' which was a total shock to me cause I missed it

me 'oh I really think that you should take that home'

Uber 'Yeah so do I' (quizzical look cause he is wondering if I am well)

me 'No really, this is Mums birthday present for you'

Uber 'Seriously....(look of pure glee) AWESOME!!!!'

He proceeds to walk around for the next hour giggling.

Yeah this could be dangerous. He is already talking about wiring it to a remote control car battery. Mark my words nothing good can come of this!

Wait ...I stand corrected... something can.
