Olivia's Quilt

When Jessica and I started brainstorming about my niece's quilt, we went back and forth on several ideas. At some point we realized we'd both pinned this quilt and then it was decided. Apologies for the less than quality photos. I need to not wait until it's too late and then just having to make do...

We loved the way our inspiration quilt made the secondary pattern of X's. Jess was in charge of making sure everything was in the right place. I was in charge of sewing and trying not to mess that up. This did cause one issue, in that, to get the desired amount of x's without having to make even smaller HSTs, we had to go bigger. As in the biggest baby blanket ever. Good news, it's so big it will take her straight through her toddler years and then some.

My sis-in-law picked out this duvet from Pottery Barn Kids for the little Miss's room. We stepped up the colors just a notch.... It was so fun gathering this variety of fabrics, picking stuff up here and there and pulling from our stash.

The duvet was used for the backing with plenty left over for room accents. We did simple straight line quilting on point. The binding is a deep purple.

The solid fabrics are all Kona Cotton. Aurifil thread was used for both pricing and quilting. The batting is Pellon's Nature Touch that we purchased from Joann.
We had such fun making this and of course it is full of love and good wishes for this little one as she starts her life.

Olivia's Shower

My Aunt and Uncle welcomed their first baby this last November. So of course shower invites and presents had to be made. She chose the Eliza Duvet from Pottery Barn Kids as the main fabric for her nursery so I used that design  to create her invites. 

Favor tags and Thank you cards were also created. 

This was the first time I created an invite completely on one page- normally with the watercolor I have made all of the pieces seperately and then I rearrange them in photoshop to create the invite. So in this case I was able to give Cindy the original watercolor which I put a bible verse on. So she can keep it (or not...haha) 

Corries Tahoe Wedding

My cousin was married this last summer- which was the main reason for our California vacation in September. 

She is an elementary school teacher so she wanted the chalkboard look to her invites-well I think that is why she wanted the chalkboard look... honestly I don't know that I asked. 

She was married at the absolutely breath taking location the Valhalla estates on Lake Tahoe... so I pushed for a color map of the location...  It's a historic property run by the US Forest service (at least in part) and is worth a visit if you're in the area. 

was a so fun to be able to put these together for her. 

Another favorite blanket- animal style

So I finally found the gifts I talked about in this post. (hope you weren't holding your breath!)

Parker's Aunt wanted a blanket made for  him so she asked me to create it. I recommended one of my kids all time favorites - a whole cloth, minky backed blanket. The kids love them, they are super soft and can take a bajillion washings.  

Now you know I love pieced quilts BUT if you are wanting something custom made for you and are on a budget which in no way means cheap.. don't get me wrong... minky is involved! I think these are fantastic. And seriously the kids all time favorite to snuggle up with... not that you are allowed to touch any of their other blankets... Bella will cut you!

I quilted a zigzag to follow the fabrics zigzags  and it turned out perfectly. 

If you didn't notice I appliquéd the same animals I made for the invite onto the quilt. 

The left over fabric turned into a bag -- because we all know I can't help myself  when it comes to bags! 

I will try to get my gift up on the blog soon.... I have finally taken the time to dig up the last years worth of crafting and I am trying to get it sorted to show to you- I hope you will enjoy it there is a lot of really good stuff!

We've been super busy over here-- it's up to Mum to show you what else has been going on...BUT this is what I have been up to in the evenings.

Invitations

I have had the pleasure of working on two different invitations recently. This first one was SO fun to get a chance to do. I was contacted by a German company that saw Micah's invites and asked to create their invitations for a conference that will be held this year in Munich. 

These first two pictures are of the card part of the invite. The company graphics are their images I just arranged them into the card. 

 of course all the important information is removed. 

The fun part of the invite though is the insert-- 

 Man do I wish I were invited to this conference!! 

But for a party I was invited to (because I helped throw it... haha) 

Don't worry I changed all the important info on this invite! We kept the invite simple and preppy- I really like the way it turned out. This is actually a post Isabella project so it was done in my very limited free time! 

 I thought the shower went extremely well. The food was DELICIOUS... even if I do say so myself. I will have to get a hold of a few of the recipes and share them with you. Just in case you need party finger food that is amazing. 

Showers are so much fun. It also helps when you are throwing them with awesome people!

Kitchen Aid Cover revisited

WOW who knew how little happens with two kids? Well probably all of you! I have been working on finishing one project since Isabella was born... ridiculous!!!.... of course when I finish it you will see why it's taken me so long... my days consist of making the kids happy and trying to keep my house clean. FUN. 

Good thing they're so cute! Here's the required baby pictures. I've got to take some more pictures of this child, other then snapshots I haven't taken any since the last ones I showed you. She is now somewhere between 10-11 pounds, serious chunk. 

 Micah truly seems to just love her (hoping this continues) he chose to play with a doll the other day and was so proud to feed it, burp it, pat it and show it off to people (lets not forget the obligatory pulling on its toes...lol) he gets a little upset when someone holds her that he doesn't think should be. And always makes sure we don't forget her when were leaving.

In a country/chicken theme. 

 It was made for a Artisan Mixer- which is why it's looking a bit short while being modeled by mine.

I don't know if you can see but the black hexies are actually a chicken wire fabric. 

Recess Animals

You might remember in March I showed a custom order for bumpers that I made to match a quilt I had in my shop. Well that customers sister contacted me to work on a custom baby present - two patch work animals to match the bedding. 

 She wanted it to match the silhouette on the quilt as closely as possible.

The patchwork is 2" squares - the giraffe is about 18 inches tall. 

The back is a super soft minky.

Just for fun little wool felt hearts were added

I LOVE the way these turned out. This was my first attempt at a stuffed animal so I wasn't really sure what to expect. Custom orders are really the most fun things I would never come up with these projects on my own!

Hello Kitty

There was some crafting going on... A friend I used to work with requested a Hello Kitty baby quilt. It's so much fun doing custom work because it pushes you outside of your normal project choices! 

 I hope she likes it! The front is Ta Dot by Michael Miller in Berry. And the back is Nicey Jane Hop Dot in Cherry.
