So here is my delimma. Do I go on as I started or do I allow myself to be completely taken in by her charms. You see, she is doing a hexagon charm quilt. That is where no two fabrics are alike. By her calculations I will need 1,173 to make a quilt approx 50 x 59. I really want to be commited to finishing this quilt. I just don't want to be commited, I've got a grandchild on the way for goodness sake. Poor child.... I had a gramma but she went crazy making hexagons.......
Of course this could be like my coffee addiction. I talk about intervention but when I comes down to it, if you tried, I might have to kill you. Maybe I've made my choice. Hmmm, crazy gramma it is.
Oh dear I say go on as before. Don't commit to a quilt I can't handle any more crazy people and I don't want to have to stop talking to you!
ReplyDeleteWill it make her crazy? Or help her to keep her sanity? It's a fine line...
ReplyDeleteyeah crazy people suck....
ReplyDeleteI think you should do something small. Really. you have a grand baby on the way. There are way too many cute things to make and also too many clothes to make for yourself! It has nothing to do with the hand sewing which I have no idea why you apologize for liking it! Do a wall hanging size or mini or a pillow.
I say go for it! You can always stop and make a table runner if you choose!
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot of squares already made that are the same, right? I say make a really cool pattern out of some matching sqs. The hexagons could make a cool pattern. But then again what I know about quilting you could put in a thimble.
ReplyDeletecommit to the hexies, that way if you do lose your mind like me you have something to totally blame it on!!!
ReplyDeleteOk, I read the texas freckles blog. I think you're crazy if you start over. I read all the stuff. If you want to do a charm quilt do the bigger size hexies! Then you only need like 300 or something. I think you should stick to what you have. You can still quilt along. Why does it HAVE to be a charm quilt? 1000 hexies........... wow.
ReplyDeletecall me crazy myself, or blame it on the painkillers...but, you look very happy and peaceful at the biergarten with your hexies. go on until it no longer makes u happy and see where that leaves u. probably with something of a managable size, and beautiful memories of germany.
ReplyDeleteKeep on with the hexies! Who says you have to have the hex quilt done by a certain time?! Keep making them & make your quilt.....even if your grandbaby is 5 by that time!
ReplyDeleteIf you ask me.. I say, continue on with your bad self! Don't worry about going crazy. I think you're already half way there, don't you? :-) You're going to have a fabulous quilt in the end. And grandbaby will never know that grandma went crazy cuz it will only ever know you the way you are already. Which is... the happy side of crazy! Luv you!
ReplyDeleteShoot, continue on crazy gramma lady! Crazy people are the only interesting ones! It's only too much, well... if it becomes too much... that's a breaking point. whatever you come up with will be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, what to do, what to do? Just do it! Whatever it is. No crazy admitted to, just creating beautiful things.
ReplyDeletehaha, sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between commitment and obsessive compulsiveness. Not to be too cheesy, but do what makes you happy!
